The location and beach

Puerto Rey is in the province of Almeria in South East Spain, the area that has the highest number of sunny days per annum in Spain, and is in the region which wins the World Health Organisation’s accolade as the most healthy climate in the world. Puerto Rey is on the coast just outside the small fishing port of Garrucha, which can be easily reached on foot along the beach as well as by road, and the towns of Mojacar and Vera which are both about fifteen minutes drive away. The area is served by three airports at Almeria, Alicante, and Murcia.
 

The beach is wide and sandy and stretches for some seven kilometres. It is bordered by a mix of promenade (at Garrucha), a protected nature sanctuary, and paved pathways good for walking, cycling etc. In the high season temporary restaurants (known as Chirringuito), which serve wonderful food including seafood dishes, are erected on the beach.

The Beach is well managed by the local authority with, in the high season, a prefessional lifeguard service, changing facilities, showers, toilets etc. 


 

 

La Aldea and the Penthouse

The apartment is part of an up-market “urbanisation” called La Aldea, which is a complex set out around a well-planted palm-fringed garden with pleasant paths and planted areas, plus two swimming pools one of which is a children friendly lagoon.

 

The property, which  was built in 2002, is a fully furnished  two bedroom, two bathroom, luxury second-floor penthouse ( known in Spanish as an “attico”) which also includes a large roof terrace and two other terraces. The terraces provide views of the gardens, the sea and the mountains and allow a constant choice of sun or shade throughout the day. The roof terrace is a solarium and also has facilities, including a fully fitted kitchen with sink, cupboards, worksurface, fridge and gas B-B-Q to facilitate al fresco dining. 

 

The apartment is fitted with air-conditioning for the Summer months which can also be adjusted to operate as central heating (if needed) in the Winter.
